Ocean College, Zhejiang University (ZJU)

As the first campus out of Hangzhou, Ocean College Zhejiang University (Zhoushan Campus) is located in the China’s largest archipelago and important port city, Zhoushan. Marine Science and Engineering Research Center Zhejiang University, which is the predecessor of the Ocean College, was established in 2003. Developing from the Marine Research Center, the Department of Marine Science and Engineering to the Ocean College, we have been in Zhoushan Campus since September 2015. Zhoushan Campus (the first phase) covers an area of 480 acres with a 200,00㎡building area.

The Ocean College is a professional and research-oriented college, under the development philosophy “High starting point, Strong integration, Sustainable and Internationalized growth”. Courses within the college cover three main departments: marine science, ocean engineering, marine information (preparatory). There are 9 research institutes including marine geology and resources, marine chemistry and environment, marine biology and pharmacology, physical oceanography and remote sensing, ocean engineering and technology, port waterway and offshore engineering, marine structures and naval architecture engineering, marine sensor technology and network, marine electronics and intelligent systems.

The college is a nice and exciting place to study. You will join a community of approximately 195 staff and 1600 students. 42 percent of the faculties have obtained overseas doctoral degrees and 56 percent have overseas background. You will be taught by internationally recognised experts who are passionate about providing excellent learning and working experiences.

With the strategic seafront location and the world-class infrastructures, the Ocean College strives to build and develop first-class discipline in marine science and oceanography, becoming an pivotal centre of marine science and education in the western Pacific.
